Halloween is just around the corner, and it is that time of the year again when you need to be creative not only when it comes to your costume and decorations but also the food that you are going to serve, especially when you are hosting a party. Instead of making dishes, candies, and other treats the traditional way, try to add a hint of Halloween to them.

Whether you are hosting a huge party, a small one, or even a simple horror movie marathon, this Mini Ghost Cupcake recipe that I am going to share with you would be a perfect snack or dessert. The cupcakes are designed with “ghosts” – a little creepy, but I promise you, they will surely satisfy your sweet tooth. 🙂

This recipe requires store-bought mini cupcakes, so all you have to do is to decorate. You then have the freedom to choose a brand that you desire, something that you trust. Since you are utilizing ready-made cupcakes, preparing this Halloween treat would be a bliss. But if you have the luxury of time, you may also opt to make your very own cupcakes.

Description

With a little bit of creativity, you can decorate store-bought mini cupcakes with whipped topping in the shape of a ghost and complete the appearance with chocolate chips. Spooky, yet delicious. These Halloween cupcakes are certainly an excellent treat.


Ingredients

Scale

3 dozens mini chocolate cupcakes

1 container Cool Whip (12 oz.)

72 mini chocolate chips

36 regular chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Prepare a plastic bag with a corner snipped off.
  2. Fill it with Cool Whip.
  3. Pipe cream into peaks on each cupcake.
  4. Decorate the cream with two mini chocolate chips for the eyes and one regular chocolate chip for the mouth.

Notes

It is highly recommended that you refrigerate the cupcakes with cream for about 2 to 3 hours and bring to room temperature before you start decorating with chocolate chips.

How to Make Chocolate Cupcakes

Like what we have said earlier, you can make your own chocolate cupcakes if you have enough time to do so. All you need is the following:

2 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. sugar
1 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp. each baking powder and baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. each canola oil and boiling water
3 eggs (lightly beaten)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit while lining muffin tins with cupcake liners. Combine baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, flour, sugar, and salt. Add eggs, oil, and buttermilk, and then slowly add the boiling water.

Fill each cup with the mixture and bake for about 15 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before removing the cupcakes from the tins and then finish cooling on a wire rack.
