Description
Thinly sliced apples, baked at a very low temperature is the secret to come up with healthy, crispy, and appetizing cinnamon apple chips.
Ingredients
3 large sweet apples (thinly sliced)
1 1/2 tsp white sugar
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- Sprinkle a mixture of white sugar and ground cinnamon over the apple slices.
- Bake the apples for about 45 minutes or until they are all dry and the edges are curled.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Notes
Each apple slice should not be more than 1/8-inch thick. Otherwise, it won’t get crispy. And take note that the baking time will depend on how moist the apples are.
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cook Time: 45 minutes
- Method: Baking
As you can see, making this recipe does not involve a dehydrator at all. As long as you take your time in baking the apple slices at a low temperature, they should dry up. It is also important that you give enough time for them to cool so you can get them crispy.
What Type of Apple Is the Best to Use?
Any type of apple would work just fine. But make sure that they are fresh and crisp. The best ones to utilize include Fuji, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, or Jazz.
Closing Thoughts
If you have apples growing in your back yard, you can make cinnamon apple chips every day if you want to instead of letting the fruits rot. But even if you buy them from the market, they are cheap anyway, so this snack should not cost you that much.
