Make Coffee At Home Like A Pro With These Brewing Methods
We all have our favorite types of coffee as well as go-to coffee shops like Starbucks. But what would you do in case you get stuck at home? Are you going to settle for instant coffee?
Getting your daily dose of caffeine should not be that hard and expensive if you know how to brew your own. With these brewing methods, you will be able to make coffee at home like a pro:
French Press
The French Press is one of the oldest and easiest ways to make coffee at home, and it is done by pouring coarse ground coffee into the carafe and filling it up with boiling water. After which, you need to press the plunger down so that the grounds will be separated from the coffee. This method may take you about 10 minutes, which is not bad at all.
Cold Brew
This one here does not refer to iced coffee. Instead, it is a popular innovation that requires you to slowly drip cold filtered water through fresh grinds for about 10 to 12 hours. Yes, it takes time, but the result is an intense brew, without the bitterness.
Siphon
This involves a combination of brewing methods. The siphon, which is a vacuum coffee maker utilizes vapor pressure to force water to rise into the upper part so that it can be mixed with the grounds. The water will be dropped back down to the lower part. All in all, the process takes about 8 minutes, giving you a clean and flavorful brew.
Moka Pot
If you are into espresso but you do not have the budget for an espresso machine yet, then the Moka Pot is a good alternative. It is an espresso maker but it is done on the stove. This special pot comes with 3 chambers for water, steam, and coffee grounds. You would need fine coffee grounds and the brewing time takes about 5 minutes.
Aeropress
Do you want to keep things simple? Try the Aeropress, which is a device that was invented in 2005. It has a plunger that needs to be pressed down so it would create air pressure that pushes the coffee through the filter and finally to a cup. The process only takes a couple of minutes and the result is a smooth and clean brew.
Chemex
The Chemex brewer is like a vase, but its hourglass shape really has a purpose. It is much better than other drippers because it can make about 3 to 4 cups of coffee in one brewing, which takes 5 minutes or less. You can expect bright and pure brew.
Pour Over
Pour over is another classic brewing technique that has been used since time immemorial. It is quite easy to do, too. All you have to do is to pour hot water through coffee grounds in a filter. From here, coffee will slowly drip into the vessel. For a smooth brew result, you need fine to medium coffee grounds.
Vietnamese Phin
For solo coffee drinkers, the Vietnamese Phin or dripper is the perfect accomplice. This method is quick and easy. You can have a cup of coffee in just 3 to 5 minutes. All you have to do is to pour your water in. No need for fancy brewing skills or techniques.
Turkish Coffee Pot
Turkish coffee has been around since 1299. It’s a strong type of coffee that can be easily made, but you have to do it right. Using a tiny special pot, you have to simmer your brew a few times to create an aromatic, sharp, and thick coffee.
Espresso Machine
Espresso machines have been very popular since 1901. If you are a serious coffee lover, then you should invest in this equipment. Depending on the machine that you buy, you can have the best shot, which you can drink as-is or serve as a base of various types of coffee like cappuccino.
You have plenty of options when it comes to brewing methods and the best one would actually depend on your needs and preferences. The bottom line is, you should use only high-quality ingredients so that you can guarantee excellent results.
It’s funny, until recently I never made coffee at home, I always used my coffee addiction as an excuse to get out the house, I would go to pret and buy my fill, literally walking from pret to pret to get my excise and my coffee, but last month pret introduced a coffee subscription, any coffee, up to 5 cups a day for £20 a month 😱 anyway I drink my coffee black filter (cheapest on the menu conveniently) so anyway I make it at home now, I bought the subscription but I use it for smoothies instead (most expensive on the menu) 😂
Great review! We have all of these at home except for a dedicated espresso machine. But our absolute favorite is the completely mechanical Walküre Karlsbad from Germany. It produces THE BEST coffee we’ve ever tasted.
