You sure can’t miss this skyscraper sandwich! Yes, it’s the club sandwich!

This type is probably one of the oldest sandwiches that the world has been consuming. According to research, it may have been invented back in 1894 in one of the gambling houses in Saratoga, New York. Shortly after that, though, this sandwich was no longer limited to that particular gambling joint where it originated. It became the star of many fancy restaurants as well as lunch spots. And guess what? It also conquered even the average kitchens out there.

Wondering how to make the classic club sandwich, also known as clubhouse sandwich? This layered goodness is actually simple to make. As long as you have the needed ingredients, all you have to do is to assemble them. Another good thing about it is that you can be as elaborate as you want with your club sandwich. You can keep it simple, too.

Variations

The club sandwich is versatile as well. While the original ingredients include turkey, bacon, ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, you can definitely switch things up. You have the freedom to omit any of the turkey, bacon, and ham and replace them with chicken, especially if you have some leftover from dinner. This would be a great way to consume your food.

Additionally, you really don’t have to stick with white bread either. To make your sandwich much healthier, you may opt for wheat bread. You can also go for sourdough or even rye.

Closing Thoughts

The classic club sandwich is another healthy food item for lunch or snack time. Once you have all the ingredients ready, it would only take a few minutes to set up your sandwich. You also have the freedom to add or omit some ingredients. The key is, start with the basic club sandwich, then work from there. You can add as many toppings and layers as you want!
