Description

With a combination of split peas, ham bone, and other veggies, you can have a warm, flavorful, and very satisfying soup.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups split peas

1 ham bone

6 cups chicken broth (low-sodium)

2 medium carrots (peeled and chopped)

2 stalks celery (chopped)

3 sprigs thyme

1 large onion (diced)

2 cloves garlic (minced)

1 teaspoon ginger (ground)

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (crushed)

salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Put all the ingredients into the slow cooker.
  2. Set on high and cook for about 5 hours or until the split peas are soft.
  3. Shred the meat and get rid of the bone.
  4. Serve.

Notes

If you prefer cooking on low, it may take you about 6 to 8 hours. When serving, you can top a bowl of split pea soup with some croutons.
