With ready-made phyllo pastry and homemade apple filling with raisins, currants, and cinnamon, you can whip up the Best-Ever Apple Strudel. Simple yet absolutely delicious!
1 lb. sweet apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
1/4 c. dried currants
1/4 c. golden raisins
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 slices of brown bread (crumbled)
2 tbsps. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter (melted)
1/2 package phyllo dough (about 16 ounces)
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Combine apples, currants, raisins, cinnamon, bread crumbs, and sugar in a large bowl. Mix well.
- Generously spread melted butter on several sheets of pastry and arrange on top of each other on a baking sheet. Spread the fruits mixture on the top sheet and roll the sheets up, forming a log shape. Brush with the melted butter.
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until pastry is golden brown and the fruit filling is tender.
For the apples, you can use baking apples like Fuji, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, or Honey Crisp. You are free to utilize mixed varieties as well.
