Description
Stir-fried pork with onion and then cooked in a vibrant sweet and sour pork. This is a recipe that might be new to you, but it will surely surprise your tastebuds!
Ingredients
1 lb. pork tenderloin (cut into 1 1/2 X 1/4 inch strips)
1 medium onion (chopped)
1 green pepper (sliced thinly)
2 tbsp canola oil
1 can pineapple tidbits (14 oz)
2 tbsp each cornstarch, brown sugar, white sugar, and soy sauce
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp each ground ginger and pepper
1/3 c. each water and ketchup
Instructions
- Drain pineapple and reserve the juice. Set aside.
- Combine cornstarch, salt, ginger, pepper, and brown sugar in a small bowl. Add ketchup, water, soy sauce, vinegar, and pineapple juice. Mix well until smooth.
- Stir-fry pork along with onion in a large skillet for about 8 to 10 minutes. Stir in pineapple mixture and bring to a boil. Wait until the sauce starts to thicken.
- Add green pepper and pineapple tidbits. Reduce heat and cook for another 5 minutes.
Notes
This dish can be garnished with sesame seeds if desired. It can also be served over rice.
